ABOUT

Your Support Makes a Difference.

In us for over
10+ Years

The Protective Workplace as an NPO and was set up to support adults (over
18) with mental and physical challenges (our beneficiaries). We provide a
safe place for our beneficiaries to come and to be accepted for who they are
and where they receive validation and appreciation. This is done via a ‘school’ environment where they are taught basic literacy and numeracy
through a fulltime staff member. They are also supplied with a hot meal every morning.

Most of the beneficiaries have difficult home and family environments too.
To this end we have secured the help of an Occupational Therapist to help in this regard but have realised we also need to employ a Social Worker on a weekly basis to look after their wellbeing and to visit, assess and intervene in their home environments as necessary.

We do also use the beneficiaries (where possible) to assist us in creating
various products through departments: Sewing/Needlework, Laser cutting,
Woodwork and Garden nursery. We do sell products we produce through a
dedicated shop at a local Church (Karoo Community Church) and via special
orders from corporates, international game farms in the area and gift shops
etc. These departments generate some 15% of the costs to run the Protective
Workplace and we do have some local companies that support us through donations, food, clothing, etc.

Again, we realise there’s always a big call on funding and that you support
other South African beneficiaries too. We would appreciate any contribution
towards our current financial needs. As an NPO, we are registered to supply
Section 18 tax refund Certificates.
